Center of Excellence in Sustainable Food and Agricultural Systems (CESFAS)

The Center of Excellence in Sustainable Food and Agricultural Systems at New Mexico State University is a state-funded research institute within the College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences.

The Center brings together interdisciplinary researchers from animal, plant, food, and social sciences in partnership with industry and community stakeholders to drive new knowledge, new technologies, and new opportunities for New Mexico.

Our goal is to advance sustainable agricuture, which we define as:

"The ability to meet society’s food, fuel,
feed and fiber needs in the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. In order to sustain human communities and the environments in which they live, food and agricultural systems must be environmentally sound, economically viable and socially responsible."
